milestone events

At Rosemont, we feel that there are certain stages in life that help determine a child's path. These milestones are important times that we, as a church, want to celebrate with families. Below are the first of these milestones which are reached by preschoolers and elementary aged children, along with information on how to participate:

  • MILESTONE 1:  Baby Dedication & Luncheon

We see baby dedications as the first step by parents in giving their children to the Lord. By participating, you are saying that God is the head of your home and that He will be the driving force behind every decision you make in the spiritual training of your children. This dedication service is the first step in nurturing and preparing them so that one day they will put their total trust in Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior.

This is a very special time for families to celebrate together. We will begin with a light lunch in our fellowship hall.  After lunch, we will gather in the Worship Center  for a time of prayer and dedication.

Our next Dedication will be on March 19, 2023 following our 11 AM Service. Please register here.

  • MILESTONE 2:  My First Bible

Moving from Preschool to the Children's Ministry can be quite scary for preschoolers AND THEIR PARENTS! In order to make a successful transition, we have a special day for them. On promotion Sunday, the children meet their new teachers, visit Praise Park for their first Kids Worship Time, and tour the Children's Ministry Area. Our new Kindergarteners are each presented an Adventure Bible as they begin to dive into and understand more of God's word together.  Our Church will also celebrate this milestone together during worship by praying for them and their parents.  Information about this special day is sent out at the end of July.

  • MILESTONE 3:  New Christian's Class & Baptism

    New Christians Class

Do you have a child who has been asking questions about becoming a Christian or who has already made that decision, but is unclear on things? If you answered yes, then this class is for your child!

The New Christian's Class is designed for kids 1st - 5th grade who have accepted Christ as their Savior, as well as for those who are asking questions about becoming a Christian. Children in this class will gain a better understanding of sin, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, the importance of quiet time, and many other aspects of being a Christian.

This class is offered on an as needed basis throughout the year, and is taught during either the 9:30 or 11:00 Sunday School hour. Children who take this class should check-in as they normally do and enter Praise Park. They will be dismissed to the New Christian's class as a group instead of going to their normal Sunday School Class.

The Sunday prior to the first class, parents are required to attend a parent meeting during the 11:00 service where they will be given a New Christian's Class book to complete at home during the next few weeks that their child will be taking the class.

Before being baptized, children must attend this class and meet with one of our church's ministers. By participating in this class, we feel more confident that children understand the decision they are making to accept Christ as their personal Savior.

  • Baptism

Baptism is a very important time in the life of a child. It is their way of following Jesus' example at the beginning of their walk with Christ. We require children to participate in the New Christian's Class before being baptized. This is our way of ensuring that they comprehend the step they are about to take. We understand the different maturity levels of children, and don't want to make them wait for several weeks before being baptized however, we have found this class to be a wonderful step in their faith development and understanding. For information about children's baptism, contact Philip McClung, Preschool & Children's Minister.

  • MILESTONE 4: Flag Weekend (4th & 5th Grade Discipleship Weekend)

FLAG stands for Fun Learning About God. This is a discipleship weekend designed for 4th & 5th graders to learn more about God and the wonderful plan He has for their lives.   If you are in one of these grades, this is a weekend you don’t want to miss!  Come have Fun Learning About God!   Come planning to "lock-in" at the church and have a blast!!!  This event is held in the Spring.
